The community of Wellington, Ohio is mourning the death of James William “Bill” Norris, who passed away at home on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on August 1, 1951, in Kopperston, West Virginia, Bill later made his home in Wellington after growing up in North Ridgeville, Ohio. He spent many years working as a machinist and was known for the quiet routines and simple joys that shaped his life, including time outdoors, games of chess and ping pong, and cheering for Ohio State. Above all, he was a family man whose greatest pride was found in the people he loved.

Bill is survived by his children, James Norris Jr., Christy Adkins, Jason Norris, Sarah Dooley, and Matthew Norris; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Norris. His passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew him as a father, grandfather, relative, and friend.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery. As loved ones gather to remember him, Bill Norris is being honored for a life of hard work, devotion, and lasting love for his family.
