The community of Monroe, Washington is mourning the death of Haiden Nichols, a vibrant young man whose passing has left family, friends, teammates, and loved ones heartbroken as they remember a life filled with energy, loyalty, and adventure.
Born in 2007, Haiden was remembered as warm-hearted, determined, and full of life. He had a deep love for music, art, and the outdoors, with interests that ranged from The Eagles, Stone Temple Pilots, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Sublime, and Tyler Childers to graffiti art, fishing, and time spent with family and friends. He also loved staying active through running, going to the gym, lifting, and especially practicing Jiu Jitsu.
Haiden’s passion for Jiu Jitsu became one of the defining parts of his life. He trained at Jitz Life Jiu Jitsu and earned gold medals through discipline, commitment, and a fierce competitive spirit. In a heartfelt tribute, Laercio Fernandes remembered him as “full of life, fun and adventure” and said his loss was one nobody was prepared for. Haiden was also known for the love he had for his dog Rex and for encouraging others to become the best version of themselves.
Haiden Nichols will be remembered in Monroe for his adventurous spirit, his love of life, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory lives on in the family who cherished him, the teammates who trained beside him, and the many people touched by his strength, kindness, and unmistakable presence.

Haiden, it’s never going to be the same again without you. I keep thinking oh if I had said this or done that, then maybe you would still be here, but what ifs don’t make progress and I know you would call me dumb and say it’s not my fault. Me and Alex and everyone you knew will always have a Haiden shaped hole in our hearts. I mentally cannot believe your gone. Thankyou for being my social safety net and never leaving me behind, I will never forget you and all the fun and sometimes crazy shit we would do. Bonfires will never be the same, nothing will. I love you bud, rest easy. I can’t wait to see you in heaven, I just know your gonna give me that shit eating grin and im gonna punch the fuck out of you for leaving us so damn soon. I love you soooooo much. Our friendship should have lasted a lifetime but it was cut short. You think you have forever until you don’t.
