The community of Ontario is mourning the death of Jim Weller, a respected YMCA leader, devoted father, loving son, and cherished friend whose passing has left family and loved ones grieving a profound loss.

He served as Regional Vice President with the YMCA of Northern Alberta – Wood Buffalo, where he supported programs focused on health, childcare, after-school services, and newcomer support in the Fort McMurray area. He had also studied at UMass Amherst and was known as someone who embraced meaningful work that helped strengthen the communities around him.

In a heartfelt tribute, his niece Shannon Ambeau remembered Jim as “an incredible man” and described him as a loving son and dad, a caring partner, and a true friend to so many. Her words reflected the deep sadness felt by those closest to him, while also highlighting the lasting impact he made through both his personal relationships and professional life.
